This section is generally straightforward. Money earned from work must be Halal as well. Do not do any work that is deemed Haram and unislamic like serving liquor or sex work and you should be fine. The companies you work for must not be based on Haram activities and products like gambling, alcohol and interest. Illicit businesses deemed illegal by the country you reside in should also be avoided as Islam teaches us to obey the law of the land we live in as long as it does not conflict with Islamic Laws. So, doing illegal work like smuggling or piracy is also deemed Haram. If you stay away from those companies and types of work, it is safe to say the money you earned is Halal.
